The Sassy Skillet Cafe and Juice Bar offers a laid-back yet lively breakfast and brunch experience tucked just off the main stretch of Washington Avenue in Towson. The atmosphere leans casual and welcoming, with friendly staff who are happy to accommodate special requests and keep the energy warm even during moderately busy times. It’s the kind of spot where locals stop by for a hearty morning meal that feels freshly made without fuss.

This cafe shines when you’re looking for generous portions and comfort food with a twist. The menu blends classic breakfast staples—like fluffy biscuits smothered in gravy and savory scrambled eggs—with some playful options such as Red Velvet Moon Pie and Smash Burger Tacos. You’ll notice that dishes come with well-seasoned sides, particularly the crispy breakfast potatoes that seem to be a local favorite.

Walk-ins and small groups fit comfortably here, with indoor seating arranged to accommodate gatherings on weekends, although it’s usually less crowded on weekday afternoons. The vibe is unpretentious, making it a good fit for everything from a solo weekend treat to a casual meet-up spot for friends or family. Coffee is solid, complementing the food without stealing the spotlight.

For those who enjoy a burst of fresh flavor beyond traditional breakfast dishes, the juice bar element adds a bright, health-conscious angle to the menu. This combination gives the cafe a neighborhood feel—both indulgent and mindful—without leaning too heavily in either direction.

Best time to visit: Weekday late mornings to early afternoons offer a quieter experience if you prefer to avoid weekend crowds, while those craving a lively brunch scene might swing by on weekends prepared for a fuller house.

A delicious and indulgent breakfast. Portions are huge. And after I was stuffed, I kept taking tiny bites, trying to find room in my belly to keep the taste experience alive. I ordered something called, "I'M NOT EVEN SORRY!" from the backside of the menu: Scrambled eggs with country ham, onion, and cheddar. It's mixed with home fries and served with buttermilk biscuits. Everything slathered in sausage gravy. I was going to top it with hot sauce, but it was perfect as-is. My only criticism is that it was just ordinary diced Yankee ham, not the salty country/Virginia style I was expecting. Otherwise, Sassy Skillet got all the details right. The breakfast potatoes are red skin bliss, perfectly seasoned, and crisped on the griddle. The biscuits were fluffy, tangy, and buttery. The real milk and flour gravy was smooth & creamy, with big chunks of crumbled sausage, and a sweet/salty/spicy flavor profile that will transport you to the south and make you forget that you're eating in the Baltimore suburbs. My son ordered "Strawberries and cream French toast tacos." They are only "tacos" in presentation. Sure, it's gimmicky, but also fun. And the French toast, even if it weren't on a taco rack, would still be outstanding--adequately dipped into egg-custard batter (no dry bread center, not mushy and undercooked, like so many other places). It came topped with fresh cut berries, whipped cream, and powdered sugar. My son didn't even touch the syrup. This place is a gem. It's a little hard to find, tucked into the far side of the building, with signage hidden behind a red Stop sign. It's across from the public parking lot. And it seems like it's having an identity crisis: cafe or juice bar? No table service, you order at the counter, serve your own coffee, and collect your own napkins and utensils. Then they bring you a plate of food that's better than anything you're going to find at a sit-down place. The gastronomic quality deserves better ambience and interior decorating. But you'll be so satisfied--over stuffed and bloated--that you'll start dreaming about your next visit even before your stomach has settled and the lingering tastes have left your mouth.

This place is tucked away, but it’s fantastic! Food is amazing, chef and staff super friendly and accommodating. We went on a weekday at noon in August, and it wasn’t super busy. But this place deserves all the hype of long lines and everything. I got the loaded hash brown avocado toast - hashbrowns perfectly crispy, cheesy eggs, avocado mash, and sriracha mayo drizzle. We also got the biscuits with strawberry butter - warm from the oven and absolutely delicious. The chef said he is coming out with a bigger menu in the fall, with more crazy milkshakes and avocado toast options. It was already so hard to decide! Def will be back.

The Sassy Skillet in Towson is a true hidden gem. The food was fresh, flavorful, and simply amazing from start to finish. Their breakfast potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crispy, and the bacon dippers were out of this world — easily some of the best breakfast bites I’ve had in a long time. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier — warm smiles, great energy, and genuine hospitality that made the whole experience feel welcoming and relaxed. The atmosphere is upbeat and comfortable, and the prices are more than reasonable for today’s world, especially considering the quality. If you’re in the Towson area and love a great breakfast, do yourself a favor and check out The Sassy Skillet. You’ll walk out full, happy, and already planning your next visit!

This was a pleasant surprise! Found it on google as i was in the area. They are nice and made my food to order with substitutions. I got the half vegetable lovers quesadilla with a side of breakfast potatoes. It is so fresh and good!

Excellent breakfast with great dishes and quality. We had a larger group and the staff was happy to push tables together for us. There is a decent amount of indoor seating but it likely fills up on weekends. The menu is varied and everything was freshly made and delicious with great flavors and ingredients. Portions were large and a great value for the money. Their coffee was great though I only had a cold brew. Service was friendly and helpful but as a smaller place it wasn't fast but a more relaxed pace. This is definitely a great place for breakfast and the breadth of the menu would haveade it easy to come back a second time. Highly recommend this as a breakfast option when in the area.

Fun location for a quick breakfast. Went on a weekend, about 11am and no wait which was nice. Excellent, flavorful food with good portion sizes. Next time we will try the Dare or Double Dare meal experience. In nice weather they do have outdoor seating.

A family based smaller staff. What is lacked in ‘quantity’ they 100% make up in quality. Immaculate customer service from everyone. A hole in the wall for sure, can not be seen from the street. Limited seating inside and outside. Food was perfect. We ordered the following: Pancake breakfast: 10/10 fluffy, crispy pancakes. Home fries were crisp and seasoned. Perfect for 2 kids to share The Wild West: 10/10 very fresh ingredients, good flavor and portion. Recommend. The Washington Ave: 10/10- I added Feta instead of cheddar and that sent things over. Huge sandwich. Flavor packed. Might want a little more sauce. Cappuccino: 8/10 a little too much milk (hot skim milk) Strawberry mint lemonade: 10/10 I recommend breakfast lovers get here!

My daughter and I were looking for a place to eat breakfast. She found this restaurant on the internet. It was a little bit difficult to find because it's set off the street and has a very small street sign. My daughter saw it but I pay very little attention to my surroundings unfortunately. We dined in you make your order at the counter and they bring the food to you I had I believe the banger omelette and my daughter had pancakes. I added a photo and all I can say is it tastes as good as it looks. The two employees that we met were very conscientious, kind and quick at their jobs.
